At the heart of all of our projects is communication. Every project is different, so we like to meet our clients right at the start when we first consider the project and assess the bones of the building. We encourage clients to come to our studio to meet the team, but we’ve also built successful relationships over FaceTime too.
We listen and respond to our clients’ unique requirements, rather than rolling out a practice style. This means spending time at the outset to assess the needs of our clients and working carefully with the project team to ensure we are all aware of our individual roles. We often convey our understanding through hand-sketching, which helps bring ideas to life.
We are transparent and build honest relationships with our clients. We develop realistic budgets and work hard to stick to them. We prepare detailed guides for this and submit clear information on programme at the outset. We will identify the rooms that are important to our client and allocate the budget based on this hierarchy.
Construction and design projects are always complicated and truly individual design solutions require extra thought. We always factor thinking time into our proposals. Lateral and practical thought is fundamental to our work. We often think about whether there may be a simpler way to achieve a similar result and are always careful to consider what will work best for our client and the project team.
Our aim is to excite clients rather than overwhelm. We present our ideas using carefully curated concept imagery and hand sketches supported by physical samples of hard finishes and fabrics. We avoid trends, instead applying our knowledge to generate exquisite design solutions that leave clients inspired and which will stand the test of time. We like introducing our clients to our international pool of artisans and designers, so that they can be involved, if they so wish, in the creation of unique pieces.
All of our ideas are thoroughly interrogated before they become reality. We collaborate with specialist craftspeople and artisans and discuss technical solutions with the professional team. We create technical drawing packages using SketchUp and Vectorworks, and follow the RIBA plan of work to develop our designs. We discourage starting on site until every detail has been considered, the design has been signed off and the client is happy.
With our focus on the correct interpretation of our design detailing, we offer support to the project team right the way through the construction process, commenting on and understanding their interpretation of the design throughout construction. Typically we become our clients’ eyes and ears. Post-installation we offer attentive aftercare to our clients and provide Operating, Maintenance and Cleaning Manuals for use by our clients and their staff. To date, we have had repeat projects from every client.
